Dr. Salchak attended the University of Houston College of Optometry and graduated with a Doctor of Optometry degree in 1988, and is a certified Therapeutic Optometrist.  He has been in private practice for 25 years, and is licensed to treat ocular diseases including glaucoma.  Dr. Salchak is also certified to provide pre and post operative care for cataract and LASIK patients.  He specializes in advanced procedures such as hard to fit contact lenses, astigmatism, and first time users of contacts.  In addition, he is trained in Corneal Refractive Therapy (CRT), which is a corneal reshaping technique used to control myopia.  He also fits scleral contact lenses for both regular and irregular shaped corneas.  Dr. Salchak has been a member of the American Optometric Association and the Texas Optometric Association for nearly 30 years.

Dr. Salchak is married, and has two sons.  He’s an active member of Sugar Land First United Methodist Church, and co-teaches an adult Sunday School class New Foundations.  He has a passion for water projects in underdeveloped areas of Central America, and has been on several mission trips to El Salvador with Living Water International.  They are a faith based organization with the goal of providing clean water, better sanitary practices, and sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.   He’s also been an active member of Sugar Land Rotary Club for 25 years.  In his spare time he enjoys: physical fitness, running, biking, and golf. He’s also an avid college football fan, and his favorite team is from College Station…..Gig’em Aggies!

He couldn’t be prouder of his 2 sons.  The older son will be a senior in the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M University.  He’s also a member of the Parson’s Mounted Cavalry, and is a construction science major.  His younger son will be a senior at Clements High School, and is the president and very active member of the Model UN Club.  In addition, he’s a member of the Clements Academic Decathlon Team, and has participated in competitions at the state level.
